TRAINING

Christianity, if false, is of no importance, and, if true, is of infinite importance.
The one thing it cannot be is moderately important."

C.S. Lewis

PRAYER STATION MISSION STATEMENT

Prayer Stations desires to share with the Body of Christ a God given strategy to reach out to people in the marketplace through prayer for their felt needs, and in so doing, lead them to Christ, who alone can meet their eternal need.

THE BIRTH OF THE PRAYER STATION MINISTRY

The New Year’s Outreach of 1992

When asking God what Nick was to do for the upcoming New Years Eve Outreach, he felt God saying to pray for people in the street.

He then was given a vision of a table with a banner on it.

 - If you need to take the train, you go to the train station.
 - If you need gas, you go to the gas station.
 - If you need prayer, you should go to… the Prayer Station.

PRAYER STATIONS is a powerful and effective prayer evangelism tool that is transforming lives using five little words:

May I Pray For You?
Everyone has a “felt” need... financial, health, relationships, careers and more. We strongly believe that Prayer Changes Things. After praying for their felt need, people are more open to discuss their REAL need, to accept Jesus Christ as their Savior.
The original Prayer Station consists of a folding table that holds a large red banner that says PRAYER STATIONS. This came out of a vision God gave to founder Nick Savoca while preparing for a New Year’s Eve outreach in New York City, and it worked with much success.
The Prayer Station ministry exploded following 9/11. We had 14 Prayer Stations around Ground Zero for a solid year with teams of volunteers coming in from all over the country. After experiencing it for themselves, these teams asked if they could get a Prayer Station for their community, and that’s how it started.

We have since expanded Prayer Stations to include 3 different size flags, a full size tent with a back wall that says MAY I PRAY FOR YOU, and our new table cover that fits over the folding table that says PRAYER STATIONS on all four sides.

PRAYER STATIONS has seen much success in its over 30 years of ministry and we invite you, your church or ministry to get a PRAYER STATION and experience Prayer Evangelism in your community.

JESUS’ LAST COMMANDMENT… The GREAT COMMISSION

Consider if you were going to leave your family, how important your last words would be. Jesus’ final words, found in Matthew 28: 19-20… “YOU GO… into all the world and preach the Gospel to all of creation”. These were the last words He spoke before ascending to the Father.

Jesus also gave an addendum to this final commandment, saying “First, I want you to go to Jerusalem and wait for the Holy Spirit to come upon you”. This was important because before we go, we need the Holy Spirit to equip, empower, energize and prepare us to do exploits for God.

The Modern Church suffers from Spiritual Dyslexia…

The church says “You come to:
 - Hear the pastor
 - Hear the traveling Evangelist
 - Watch the Easter & Christmas Presentation
Jesus said “You Go”.
 - He is telling us to take the initiative
 - Go to where the sinners are
 - That is what Evangelism is all about
At most churches, the only training they give is how to invite people to church. Evangelism is inviting people to Jesus Christ, and THEN we invite them to church.

The training we need is how to invite people to Christ.
COMFORT ZONES

The church building (or your organization) has become our comfort zone - You go to church and you are with people that are like-minded in heart. Similar values. It’s comfortable.

We even speak the same language, and it’s not English or Spanish… it is "Christianeze”.

If you asked “Are you under the blood?” In church, we would all know what that is about. Say that in Times Square and people would think you were a terrorist.

If we as Christians were a football team, we would constantly be getting penalized for spending too much time “in the huddle”. We need to be involved in ACTION… the passing, kicking, running, catching.

It is much more comfortable to hang out with Christians than sinners

Jesus was in Heaven before he took human flesh and came to earth. He was willing to come to this cursed earth and suffer. He was misunderstood. He suffered greatly. People tried and ended up killing him.

Why did He come? Because he wanted to provide for you and I the salvation that we enjoy. And then He said to his followers, “As the Father has sent me, so I am sending you.”

So you and I have the same commission that Jesus had… to leave our comfort zones and go to the unbelievers and share with them the Gospel of the Lord Jesus Christ… the Love of God.
STREET EVANGELISM IS IMPORTANT FOR SEVERAL REASONS

Outreach: Engaging people directly on the street allows evangelists to share their faith with individuals who may not encounter religious messages otherwise. Street evangelism offers a chance to convey the teachings and principles of one's beliefs to a diverse range of people.

Building Connections: Street evangelism provides face-to-face interactions that allow evangelists to make personal connections with people they encounter. This personal approach can make the message more relatable and meaningful.

Addressing Spiritual Needs: Street evangelism can reach those searching for spiritual guidance or seeking life's answers. By sharing their faith, evangelists offer hope, comfort, and direction to people who may be ready to listen.

Strengthening Communities: Street evangelism can benefit communities by promoting positive values like compassion and unity. It can inspire people to unite, support each other, and work towards shared goals.

Living Out Faith: Engaging in street evangelism allows believers to put their faith into action by actively sharing Jesus with others. It demonstrates love, kindness and compassion to those in need.
Let me share a couple of ideas here, both from Luke chapter 8:

LUKE 8:4-8
The Parable of the Sower
And when a great crowd was gathering and people from town after town came to him, he said in a parable, “A sower went out to sow his seed. And as he sowed, some fell along the path and was trampled underfoot, and the birds of the air devoured it. And some fell on the rock, and as it grew up, it withered away, because it had no moisture. And some fell among thorns, and the thorns grew up with it and choked it. And some fell into good soil and grew and yielded a hundredfold.” As he said these things, he called out, “He who has ears to hear, let him hear.”

LUKE 8:16-18
A Lamp Under a Jar
“No one after lighting a lamp covers it with a jar or puts it under a bed, but puts it on a stand, so that those who enter may see the light. For nothing is hidden that will not be made manifest, nor is anything secret that will not be known and come to light. Take care then how you hear, for to the one who has, more will be given, and from the one who has not, even what he thinks that he has will be taken away.”

Think of yourself in these two passages... When you are hearing the good word of God in training, what are you doing with it? Are you trampling it underfoot as you walk away, without a moment's thought? Is the word dying in your head because there is no moisture... no consideration of it? Or maybe combining it with other distractions that erase it from your mind. Or... are you taking the time to consider and yielding fruit? A hundred fold?

Romans 10:14 ESV‬
 - How then will they call on Him in whom they have not believed?
 - And how are they to believe in Him of whom they have never heard?
 - And how are they to hear without someone preaching?

ACCESS WITH GOD

Many people don’t know how to get help. They don’t know how to ask God for help.

We have access with God and not only for our own needs, but to petition on behalf of others.

THERE ARE TWO TYPES OF NEEDS ALL PEOPLE HAVE:

Felt Needs - Relationships, Health, Career, Financial, etc
Real Need - Relationship with Jesus Christ

HERE'S WHAT PEOPLE ARE SAYING ABOUT THE PRAYER STATION MINISTRY.

"THIS HAS BEEN A TIME FOR US TO EXPERIENCE GOD WORKING IN OTHERS LIVES BUT JUST AS MUCH IN OURS."

"There were fourteen people on my team and we spent a total of seven weeks in New York, with Prayer Stations being the majority of what we did. As a team leader I cannot describe what I felt as I saw my team test the Prayer Station idea, tentatively at first and then with “gusto” and abandon. We loved the idea of blessing people with prayer and the overall response was positive. We were able to lead between ten to fifteen people to the Lord. This has been a time for us to experience God working in others lives, but just as much in our own.'"
 - Paul M

"WE PRAYED WITH SO MANY PEOPLE AND SOME OF THEM GAVE THEIR LIFE TO GOD."

"On this day we had the challenge of heavy rains so we took our Prayer Station down into the subway station. We prayed with so many people and some of them gave their lives to God. During the time there were people literally lined up waiting to be prayed for. It was a most wonderful experience which I will never forget.'"
 - Valerie

"THE PRAYER STATION MINISTRY AFFORDED ME A UNIQUE OPPORTUNITY THAT I TRULY CHERISHED."

"I am an executive businessman who normally does not get the opportunity to minister one on one. These two days of Prayer Station ministry afforded me a unique opportunity that I truly cherished. I had the experience of sharing God’s love with non-believers and believers alike. We hope to get a Prayer Station of our own and extend this experience to our home town.”
