PHILADELPHIA PROJECT

GOD IS UP TO SOMETHING IN PHILADELPHIA!

Philadelphia, the cornerstone of our liberty and freedom as a nation, is in great need of spiritual renewal. It has become a city of violent crime! God’s heart is broken over this great city!

The YWAM ministry in Philadelphia, led by Doug & Debbie Tunney, is spear heading a mighty move to take back the streets of the city in cooperation with YWAM Prayer Stations. 60 different corners of the city have been identified as the places where most of the violent crime takes place. God has laid on the hearts of the Tunney’s a vision to equip the inner-city churches of Philadelphia with 100 Prayer Stations.

The project has begun with great success. We have already been able to assist 35 different churches with this proven tool of hope, blessing and evangelism. Prayer Stations is now the preferred evangelism strategy for churches to use in the city. On average 30 people a week are coming to Christ through Prayer Station outreaches. More than 300 people per week are receiving prayer. One large African American church in the city has trained 220 of their people as Prayer Station volunteers and the YWAM ministry is conducting, an average of 3 church training sessions a month.
We continue to move toward our goal and look to have churches adopt the 60 different corners of the city where most of the crime and violence takes place. To reach our goal of 100 Prayer Stations we need an additional 65.

Each Prayer Station costs $495. Therefore, we are in need of $32,175 to make it happen. Anything you may be able to do to help us financially at this time would be greatly appreciated by our Prayer Station staff, the staff of YWAM Philadelphia and the churches and ministries of that city. I look forward to hearing the news media report that there has been a turn around with crime in the city and that they think it is because the Body of Christ has come out of their sanctuaries and into the marketplace where the people are, to share with them the love and power of God to change a life. I believe the Philadelphia Project will become a prototype of what God wants to do in many other major cities both in the US and abroad. We have a proven tool that can change a city!

Please be a part of this Jesus Revolution in Philadelphia!

We have a solution.

In 1992, Prayer Station Founder, Nick Savoca, was praying and asking God for a strategy for the upcoming outreach in New York City. God’s response was so simple, “Offer prayer to the people on the street.” As Nick contemplated this “up front” strategy for evangelism, God gave Him an idea. Build a PRAYER STATION. Place a table with a big red banner that can be easily seen at a park, on a sidewalk, at an event, or any other place that has a large number of people.

May I Pray For You?

Using the simple question, "May I Pray For You" creates a very disarming way to introduce conversation. Most people have a felt need, and are willing to have someone pray for them. This opens the door to then have a conversation and pray for their REAL need... their need for Jesus Christ.

HERE'S WHAT PEOPLE ARE SAYING ABOUT THE PRAYER STATION MINISTRY.

"THIS HAS BEEN A TIME FOR US TO EXPERIENCE GOD WORKING IN OTHERS LIVES BUT JUST AS MUCH IN OURS."

"There were fourteen people on my team and we spent a total of seven weeks in New York, with Prayer Stations being the majority of what we did. As a team leader I cannot describe what I felt as I saw my team test the Prayer Station idea, tentatively at first and then with “gusto” and abandon. We loved the idea of blessing people with prayer and the overall response was positive. We were able to lead between ten to fifteen people to the Lord. This has been a time for us to experience God working in others lives, but just as much in our own.'"

"WE PRAYED WITH SO MANY PEOPLE AND SOME OF THEM GAVE THEIR LIFE TO GOD."

"On this day we had the challenge of heavy rains so we took our Prayer Station down into the subway station. We prayed with so many people and some of them gave their lives to God. During the time there were people literally lined up waiting to be prayed for. It was a most wonderful experience which I will never forget.'"

"THE PRAYER STATION MINISTRY AFFORDED ME A UNIQUE OPPORTUNITY THAT I TRULY CHERISHED."

"I am an executive businessman who normally does not get the opportunity to minister one on one. These two days of Prayer Station ministry afforded me a unique opportunity that I truly cherished. I had the experience of sharing God’s love with non-believers and believers alike. We hope to get a Prayer Station of our own and extend this experience to our home town.”
